Bringing the design into view
For custom commissions, rendered drawings and 3D prototypes are included as part of the service, allowing you to review the scale, proportions and setting details before your ring is made.

Do I need an appointment to start a custom design?
Yes. Our studio is appointment-only, giving us time to understand your ideas and guide you through the possibilities without feeling rushed. We offer private appointments in Surry Hills and virtual consultations for clients further afield.
How long does it take to create a Union Studios piece?
Most made-to-order and custom pieces take around 5–6 weeks once the design and details are confirmed. More involved designs may take longer. We’ll give you a considered timeframe before production begins.
Do you offer virtual consultations?
Yes. We regularly work with people interstate and overseas. We can talk through design options by video, share images and measurements, and guide you through the same process remotely.
Can I choose the diamond or gemstone for my ring?
Yes. We can curate a selection based on the shape, character, quality and budget you have in mind. We’ll talk you through the differences so you can choose a stone that feels right for your piece.
How long does an engagement ring take to make?
Our usual timeframe is around 5–6 weeks from approved design and deposit, although more intricate work, unusual stones or busy workshop periods may require longer. We’ll confirm your estimated completion date before starting.
Do you work with natural and sustainably grown diamonds?
Yes. We offer both natural and laboratory-grown diamonds, and will explain their origins, grading and pricing in a straightforward way. Your choice can come down to personal preference, budget and what matters most to you.
Are your diamonds independently graded?
We prioritise independently graded centre diamonds and commonly work with GIA reports for natural diamonds and IGI reports for laboratory-grown diamonds. Certification can vary with a stone’s size and type; we’ll confirm exactly what documentation accompanies any stone we propose.
How can I find my ring size?
The most reliable way is to have your finger measured professionally. You’re welcome to visit us by appointment, or ask a local jeweller to measure you if you’re interstate or overseas. Our size guide is a useful reference, but home measurements can be less precise.
What if I’m choosing a ring as a surprise?
If you're unsure of the size, we can help you make an informed estimate using an existing ring or other clues. All engagement ring purchases include one complimentary resize, while other rings can generally be resized for a small fee. Some designs have resizing limitations, which we'll always discuss with you beforehand.
